The next step in digital evolution isn't pure technology – it's the perfect interplay between your mind and digital intelligence.
Milcrid is an interface of its own for local AI. Not a prototype out of some corporate lab – the work of one person: Klaus built it alone, no team, no investors, with AI as a co-developer, not just a tool.
New: Milcrid is now available as an app for Windows. No cloud requirement, nothing leaving the building – the intelligence runs locally on your own PC, and you can switch between open models like Qwen, Llama, or Gemma.
On top of that, an interface that feels familiar: file manager, calculator, and other everyday tools are built in from day one, not bolted on later.
This is just the beginning. What comes next gets decided right here – not in some corporate roadmap, but between one person and the AI he works with.

What Milcrid can already do
- Runs entirely locally – no cloud required
- AI built directly into the system, models are swappable (Qwen is active right now, Gemma has run before)
- Its own file manager, calculator, and calendar – native, not add-ons
- Windows like a real operating system – move them, stack them, tile them side by side
- The AI can open windows and apps on its own – not just talk about it
- Speaks English and German – switchable

Since 10 October 2026, Milcrid is available as an app for Windows – as a beta, freely on GitHub. It is free for private, non-commercial use (license: PolyForm Noncommercial) – commercial use only with permission. Good to know:
- Windows 10 or 11 – there, Milcrid is one program among many; your PC stays as it is
- For usable speed: a graphics card with 8 GB or more (NVIDIA recommended) and about 20 GB of free disk space
- Milcrid speaks English and German
- A beta – it runs and it is tested, but it makes mistakes and is not a finished product
- Windows warns you during installation because this project has no paid signing certificate – the guide on GitHub says what to do then
What's coming next
In progress: C26SO, a separate system that builds, supervises, and limits agents – being developed on its own right now, with integration planned later. Plus more native apps.
And Milcrid OS: Milcrid as a system of its own that takes over the whole computer. Work on it continues – it will be back once it installs as easily as the Windows app.
This wasn't built by a company. It was built by one person, with three AIs as a team.

This didn't start with AI. It started with a Commodore 64 – typing in programs line by line, understanding more than actually writing them. Around the year 2000, HTML came along: my first websites, code copied, tried out, broken, fixed again.
I never really learned to program in the proper sense – and honestly, to this day I don't have the patience to debug syntax for hours. What stuck was the other part: understanding what's possible, and knowing what you want.
Then AI arrived. And a dream from my youth – sitting in front of a screen and actually talking to a computer – came true. Not as a spectator. As a team.
